Richmond, VA Wedding – Bolling Haxall House
Bess and Kevin were married on November 3, 2013 at the Bolling Haxall House in Richmond, Virginia.
We asked Bess & Kevin to give us a few words about the wedding and this is what they shared with us:
What was the “inspiration” behind your wedding? Well, the primary goal was to make sure that both our cultures were honored. Kevin’s family is Russian-Jewish and Bess’s is Scottish. We were married by a rabbi in a fairly secular Jewish ceremony. Kevin and his Best Man (Alex, his brother) wore kilts in Bess’ clan’s tartan.
How was your personality injected into your wedding? Besides the rabbi and kilt, our ‘colors’ were blue and bronze- the Ravenclaw house colors. Additionally, the cake was decorated with the sign of the Deathly Hallows. The processional song was the Potter Waltz from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Bess is a big Harry Potter fan.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding? Bess’ mom put together a wonderful presentation running through Disney movies as well has Harry Potter to describe Bess’ life thus far. Kevin’s is seeing Bess come around the corner- seeing her in her dress for the first time. Oh! And the surprise bagpiper- that was the only time Bess cried.
