Cooper’s Chronicles | The Young Family

Cooper’s Chronicles began when Cooper was born at 25 weeks, weighing only 1 pound, 15 ounces.  April and Phil Young were expecting a baby in November of 2016. They went on a vacation to South Carolina in August and during that trip, April’s water broke. She was taken to The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where Baby Cooper was born. They were told at that time that Cooper would likely be in the hospital through November. However, with Hurricane Matthew approaching the east coast, Cooper was flown to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU on October 4th.  During his stay at VCU Health Systems, Baby Cooper endured surgeries and many obstacles, but he fought hard and eventually was released on December 7th.

We were fortunate to meet The Young Family during their stay in Richmond. We love newborn portrait sessions, however when they come with stories like this, we can’t help but feel honored to have this opportunity to capture this time for the Young Family.

During Cooper’s journey, April and Phil have told their story through the Cooper’s Chronicles Facebook page. If you would like to hear more of the story, click here. Friends, family, and strangers have come together to pray for Baby Cooper and follow April and Phil on this journey.
