Hall Family 2017 Portrait Session

We love this Hall Family 2017 Portrait Session! We have been photographing the Hall Family for years and we always look forward to having Kate, Travis, Piper, Forde, and Caroline in our studio. Getting to photograph families over multiple years and watching the children grow is a true highlight for us.

This family has so much love for each other and it shows in their vibrant smiles and constant laughter. We all know that family and life is not easy. However, when you make time to document moments like this, you will remember these memories for a lifetime.

Sometimes families choose to just document the kids but we love that the Halls capture everyone, including the dogs! Yes, it takes time and it even takes money but the joy we see in their eyes when we deliver the final portraits lets us know that they believe it is worth every penny.

We challenge each of you to consider booking a family portrait session in 2018. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a consultation contact, Mary.

We would also like to thank Lou Stevens glam Squad for their wonderful hair and make-up for this session.

Love at First Sight | Richmond, VA Wedding

Love at First Sight | Richmond, VA Wedding – It was love at first sight for Cathleen and Edwin. When this fun loving couple met, Edwin was playing baseball for the Flying Squirrels in Richmond, Virginia. They met at a game and Cathleen fell in love on the spot. This story made for a great toast by Cathleen’s honor attendant and best friend, Lindsey.

We were lucky to photograph both their Engagement Session and Cathleen’s Bridal Portraits. Edwin currently plays for the Mexican Baseball League so he has a very hectic travel schedule. Jamie flew to San Diego to photograph this session because as a professional baseball player his time is limited due to training and games. We captured her bridal portraits in our garden with luscious greenery and warm sunshine in the background. Her portrait was on display at the entrance of the club.

The Wedding Day

Their wedding day was the perfect blend of great fall weather, close family and friends and lots of fun! The ceremony and reception were held at the Country Club of Virginia’s James River Clubhouse. The ceremony was outside on the lawn under bistro lights followed by a reception indoors in the ballroom.

We met Cecelia, Cathleen’s mother when her cousin Bill Gerloff (Manny Green Entertainment owner and DJ extraordinaire) referred her to our studio. Hayes & Fisk photographed Bill’s daughter’s wedding a few years ago at Westover Plantation. We were very excited and honored to be photographing another wedding in the extended Gerloff family.

Amber at CCV had everything planned and in perfect order. Her team of trained professionals made for a flawless wedding. They are always such a pleasure to work with. However Cecelia also played a large role in the wedding planning process. Her coworkers at Morgan Stanley, joked that they couldn’t wait to have her back at work now that the wedding was over.

The entire day was perfect. Everyone had such a great time as laughter filled the air all day long. DJ Dennis Collins of Manny Green Entertainment had all of the guests on the dance floor, including the grandparents. The food was delicious, the decor was beautiful and the popcorn send off what so unexpected and unique. After 35 years of photographing weddings, we can say that was definitely a first.

This was a very exciting year for Edwin and his family because not only did they welcome to lovely Cathleen into their family, but Edwin’s team also won the National Title. It was a pretty good year for the Crouch and Quirarte Families!

The Perfect Gift: Portrait Photography

As you might have guessed, we believe that The Perfect Gift is almost always Portrait Photography and these images are the perfect example. Ashley Tischer came to us as a client of one our favorite local children’s clothing stores, 1z2z3z. This adorable children’s store is located on Patterson Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. Lief Anne Stiles Catlett has an eye for picking out the cutest designs to carry in her store. In addition, she now has her own personal label, “Cookie”, that can be monogrammed for the perfect look.

Ashley and her mother brought Scottie and Cane into our studio to have their portraits taken for Ashley’s father, for Christmas. (What a wonderful gift!) They were the most wonderful and funny children. Jamie had the best time photographing their session. Both kids wore outfits from Catlett’s “Cookie” label and they couldn’t have been cuter. They had so much personality and it certainly comes through in the images below. Scottie definitely took the lead and Cane didn’t stop laughing the entire time. I think everyone had a smile from ear to ear the entire time.

When Jamie finished the session he said he wished his godchildren we this age again so he could photograph them in these adorable outfits.

Giving photography as gifts is so perfect because it truly lasts a lifetime. Scottie and Cane’s grandfather will get to remember them at this adorable age every time he looks at these images. We can promise that photography is a gift that never goes out of style and will always be treasured.

Not only is it important to document children as they grow up, it is even more important to actually print the images. Whether it is an oil portrait, printed on canvas or simply photographs that are framed; you can’t have better decor for your home. So we do encourage you to have those professional portraits taken and print the images for friends and family to enjoy.
