We are so in love with Katie’s Stunning Bridal Portraits. Three looks and they are all perfection. To start with, we just love the beautiful black and white images from our studio. They have a classic and elegant look – and that back shot is a show stopper. Next, there is the traditional portrait. This was also done in our studio with a classic pose and in color. Finally, we have the images taken in our garden. These images are fresh and the natural green background really makes Katie and her dress pop. While they all have a different feel, they are all beautiful in their own right.

Katie was a great subject and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her during this session. It was a great opportunity for us to get to know her a little better before her wedding. Also, it offered her a chance to “practice” in front of the camera. Your big day is stressful enough without having to worry about a photographer capturing every moment. We got to know each other better and she got to see how her wedding day look would appear in photographs. While the end product is the number one reason to have your bridal portraits taken, there are many great additional benefits.

Katie and Cameron were married on July 21, 2018, at Upper Shirley Vineyards. We look forward to sharing those images with you in the coming weeks.

Society of the Alumni |  William & Mary | Richmond, VA Chapter

It was our pleasure to photograph this special event for William & Mary’s Richmond, Virginia Chapter of the Society of the Alumni. This event was held on the gorgeous grounds of the Historic Mankin Mansion. Located in Richmond, Virginia, the Historic Mankin Mansion is a spectacular wedding and special event venue. It served as the perfect location for this event.

The cocktail party was held in the tented, outdoor space at the mansion. There were many William & Mary Alumni in attendance. In addition, First Lady of Virginia, Pamela Northam gave a wonderful speech highlighting some of the accomplishments of William & Mary.

We were excited to be back at the Historic Mankin Mansion. Over the years, we have photographed several weddings at this beautiful venue and their professional staff always provides exceptional service.

Many people don’t think about hiring professional photographers for corporate events. However, it is always great to have these special memories once the event has come and gone. The images serve as historical memorabilia, that will be part of the Society’s history for years to come.

Spring Time Bridal Portrait

We just love this Spring Time Bridal Portrait Session taken at our Parham Road Studio. This lovely bride was able to enjoy the beautiful colors of our garden, as well as our indoor studio. No matter how long we photograph weddings, we will always promote having your bridal portraits done.

In today’s post we wanted to share 4 Important Reasons why you should consider having your bridal portraits taken from our friends at Style Me Pretty.

1. Sneak Peek. When planning a wedding, you work with a hundred different puzzle pieces and have to wait until the day of the wedding to see how they perfectly fit together. The same is true with your wedding day style. You have the dress, the shoes, the accessories, the hair and the makeup but why wait until the day of the wedding to see how they all come together? Scheduling a bridal portrait shoot with your photographer gives you the opportunity to see exactly how you’ll look and allows you the opportunity to make desired changes prior to the big day.

2. Get Comfortable. A bridal portrait shoot is a win-win situation for both you and your photographer. Your photographer learns which poses work best for you and what techniques to use to get the best quality pictures. You get a relaxed and stress-free setting to explore how to become comfortable in front of the camera and how to interact with your photographer. Instead of working together for the first time on the wedding day, you and your photographer already have experience and can maximize the available time to get the best pictures possible without adding unnecessary stress to a wildly emotional day.

3. Location, Location, Location. There is no rule that says your bridal portrait needs to be at the same venue as your wedding. It doesn’t even have to fit within the same theme. You’ll get hundreds of pictures at your wedding venue on the wedding day so why not take the opportunity to explore a different location, style or season? You’ve invested a lot in your dress and should have pictures that showcase it and you in various locations.

4. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words. The tradition of displaying a bridal portrait at the wedding reception is still prevalent in weddings today and if you opt to display one, a bridal portrait shoot is necessary in order to do so. Even if you don’t want something that grand, a bridal portrait shoot gives you tangible pictures to have and hold on the wedding day. Why not give a framed picture of you in your gown to your parents or grandparents on the day of the wedding as a thank you? It’s a gift and moment they’ll remember long after the wedding day.
