What is it that they say about Wedding Day Rain? We don’t believe that Stephanie and Mike need any luck for a lifetime of happiness, but they got a little rain on their wedding day just for good measure. This happy couple didn’t let the buckets of water falling from the sky grey their day. As a matter of fact, you wouldn’t even know it rained at all by their attitudes and loving support of family and friends.

Stephanie and Mike were married at Historic Mankin Mansion in Richmond, VA on June 7th. The bride wore a beautiful dress with a removable skirt from David’s Bridal. We loved how quickly she could transform her traditional wedding dress into a fun dress for the reception. Mike and his groomsmen wore gorgeous blue suits from Generations Tux. The girls got ready for the day together, with the help of Greater than Sparrows Salon.

When the rain began to fall, Lauren, the onsite coordinator for Mankin Mansion quickly moved the ceremony indoors. All of the staff at HMM were incredible. They worked quickly to set up the room and make ensure that Stephanie and Mike didn’t have to worry about a thing.

Jamie was thrilled when the rain let up just enough to allow us to get a few shots under the large trees on the property. Originally they were intended for the backdrop for the ceremony, but they lent to beautiful images for their wedding album.

Not even bad weather could hold back that something special in a groom’s eyes when he saw his bride-to-be for the first time. They had a private moment before the ceremony and Mike’s reaction didn’t disappoint.

The ceremony and reception were decorated with gorgeous flowers from Flowers by Zoie. David Napier’s White House Catering prepared the delicious food and Frostings Bake Shop did the cupcakes. The guests had so much fun taking part in the photo booth from Silly Shotz.

After a theatrically wonderful first dance and introductions, Aaron Martin kept the fun tunes spinning all night long. He only stopped for the funny and poignant father of the bride, honor attendant and best man speeches. The dance floor remained packed and full of happy energy. Not even the speculator cupcake display (and honestly the best carrot cake we’ve ever tasted) alongside an outrageously propped photo booth could pull most of the guests off the dance floor.

It was a fantastic celebration, even with a little wedding day rain, and they have the pictures to prove it!
