We love everything about this Outdoor Oil Portrait Session. Photographing Chrissy and her two Golden Retrievers was an honor. We had a blast with Parker, three years old, and Swayze, her eight-week old puppy. It truly doesn’t get much better than this!

The universe is a strange and wonderful thing. It brings us the most wonderful, loving, and interesting people, for so many different reasons. No matter what the purpose of the portrait, the stories that are shared with us are intricately woven into the images that we create for our clients. 

After unexpectedly losing her father, Chrissy came to us to create a portrait that would honor his memory and represent a new beginning. This portrait would forever remind Chrissy of her and her father’s love for dogs. As our Hayes & Fisk Family knows, dogs are a very important part of our life. Creating this memory for Chrissy had so much meaning for us as well. We are acutely aware that our dogs provide unconditional love in our lives and that we are their entire lives. The happiness dogs and humans bring each other is truly amazing. 

First, we started in the garden at our studio. We photographed each dog individually and then together. Following that Chrissy joined in to complete the family portrait. The garden yielded the most magnificent beam of golden sunlight that day. It was the perfect light for this beautiful session.

Then we waited for the perfect light before heading to the James River. Having water in the background was important to Chrissy. Over the course of just a few minutes, we had the most amazing shots. The light was just right, Chrissy looked beautiful, and the dogs were as cute as ever. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect situation. 

Knowing that these oils will give Chrissy a warmth and loving feeling that she once enjoyed from being in the presence of her father is the greatest gift of all. These images are truly loving memories that will last a lifetime.
