We love this Marqueen Portrait Session! It was so wonderful to pick up the phone and hear Judy’s voice. It has been almost 20 years since we last created portraits for Judy of her girls. Their family was celebrating some special milestones and it was time to update their portraits. They understand the need to document these milestones today, so they are here to enjoy tomorrow. If nothing else, this past year has taught us the importance of celebrating being happy and healthy.
When helping Judy plan for the family portrait, we took into consideration the previous portraits that we had created for their family. Together we decided on a more dressy, casual style and a color palette of cool blues and crisp, clean white to happily depict a more celebratory feel for this new updated oil-painted portrait.
Over the years we have had so much fun photographing the girls in our garden, playing their musical instruments, and just being sisters. We knew this session would produce the perfect image for their family.
Once we completed the session and selected their favorite poses, we began the hand-application process of applying multiple layers of oil paint to complete the final portrait. This added rich depth and dimension, as well as, a rich mixture of blues and purples to complete the final portrait.
Judy was so overwhelmed with the oil portrait that she was almost in tears. Those reactions are what keep us behind the camera each and every day. Seeing families love and embrace these special, documented moments, truly fills out hearts. It’s why we do what we do.
