This Frazier-Stickley Engagement Session took place at Maymont Park in Richmond, Virginia. Jill and Dillian were experts in front of the camera as we captured the perfect shot for their first oil portrait as a couple.

Sometimes you just know true love when you see it. We immediately knew that Jill and Dill were meant to be together and that we were meant to photograph their engagement session and wedding.

Since Jill and Dill were already in their first home, and it was so close to Maymont Park, we thought would be a fantastic location for their engagement session. Jill even worked there a few years back, so we immediately knew it would be a perfect backdrop to create a timeless piece of art to be displayed in their living room.

We began the process by visiting their home to determine the perfect location for the final product. Together, we decided to fill the wall beside their television, an area visible from several rooms. It was obvious that the dark green accent wall would be the perfect complement to the lush greenery and foliage of the park. Then we decided on blue as the color palette for their clothing.

We began the session at the top of the Italian Gardens, working in a place where no one was in the background. Then we worked our way to the Japanese Gardens. Here the golden sunlight, filtering down through the trees, created the perfect spot and composition that would make for a big wow on their wall. We knew the winning shot when we pushed the camera’s shutter button! This feeling was solidified when we watched their faces as the image popped on our large screen when they first viewed the images.

The joy on Jennifer’s face when she entered the studio to take the first look at the finished painting said it all. Only matched by the same joy on Jill and Dillian’s faces when they walked around the corner of their kitchen to see this masterpiece hanging in their living room.

Another perfect and amazing oil painting for another amazing client!

We love this Cheely Senior Portrait Session. Welcoming in fall means more than just everything pumpkin spice. It is also the time of year when most high school seniors are wrapping up their senior portraits.

For some of our clients, this is the last time, and maybe even the first time, that their soon-to-be college-bound children will be professionally photographed. It’s even more important and heartfelt for parents like Cindy and Greg, who only have one child.

Cindy wanted to make sure that her son Hunter, would have a proper senior session to document this special milestone.

Since Benedictine has been a huge part of their lives for so long, Hunter’s main portrait had to include his uniform. Cindy also wanted to take advantage of his time in front of our camera and get a few images in his letterman jacket and a few casual shots that allowed him to show off his personality.

Hunter was amazing in front of the camera. He even let his guard down when we were outdoors, just enough for us to get a small glimpse of laughter as he gave us his authentic self. We just knew that it would make for an amazing series of images that would look great framed together.

We are sure that these images will continue to be cherished, as they reflect on this once-in-a-lifetime milestone that is now documented for years to come.

This Phillips Engagement Session truly represented this couple! Following in her parent’s footsteps, Sandra’s love for drag racing cars would forever change her life. Sometimes love finds you in the strangest places, as is the case for Sandra and David. Amongst the sounds of screeching tires, screaming fans, and checkered flags; Sandra kept noticing a particularly handsome man around the track and with a little help from her parents, love was in the air.

After hearing how these two met, we had to incorporate their love of cars into their engagement session. The two cars used in this session hold special memories for the couple. Both cars have been passed down from Sandra’s parents and this allowed us to honor their memory and their love of the track.

Crump Park turned out the be the perfect location for this shot. It is conveniently located near Sandra’s dog grooming business and her home. This allowed a short distance to haul the cars for the shoot.

With the help of her son Koen, we were able to find just the right angles for both cars. We created a variety of different looks for the collection of portraits. These images were displayed at their ceremony and are now proudly displayed in their home. Our favorite poses were the two individual shots of each of them in their respective cars, Sandra in her mom’s and David in her dad’s. Both of these cars will be the background for the ceremony, again incorporating her parents’ memories into the wedding. We could feel the presence of both Sandra’s parents as we worked through the session, pose after pose incorporating both cars, old and new memories, and lots of love.
