Fall is the best time in Central Virginia for a family road trip. Last week on Virginia This Morning, Mary talked about some great destinations around Virginia. She also discussed the importance of Documenting Family Fall Road Trips.

In the segment below, you will hear Mary and Bill Bevins talk about many wonderful destinations around Central Virginia. They begin their discussion with the mountains. First, they make a stop in Charlottesville where you can visit Carter’s Mountain to pick apples and sip on cider. Charlottesville has an endless amount of places to visit and activities to participate in throughout the year. Leaving Charlottesville, they move on to Wintergreen. Here you and your family can enjoy hiking, parks, Discovery Ridge. Finally, your travels to the mountains must include the overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway and local wineries and breweries along the way. All of these destinations make for the perfect family photo.

Then Bill makes sure Mary discusses “The Rivah”. A fall in Center Virginia wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Urbanna Oyster Festival. Next, they move on to Virginia Beach. There are many festivals and activities going on at the beach. Fall is also the perfect time to simply sit outside and enjoy the wonderful restaurants up and down the boardwalk.

Finally, they end at “home” in RVA. Mary discusses visiting Maymont Park, taking a Segway Tour, or simply enjoying some of Richmond’s rooftop restaurants. No matter which destination you choose, you are sure to have a great time. We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful places to visit within two hours east or west.

Documenting These Moments

However, Mary wants to make sure we understand that while visiting these places as a family is truly a blessing; it is as important that we document them. As an empty nester, she can attest to how quickly your kids grow up. Family portraits are a great way to preserve these memories and they give you something to look at every day.

Each and every year local families hire Hayes & Fisk to photograph their family portraits, not only at home in Richmond but also all over the state. We travel from the mountains to the beach to help you created lasting memories. Take a look below at some of the portraits that line the walls of so many homes around Richmond. Call us today so we can make this happen for you and your family.

We have captured this family over several years. As you scroll through this post you will see images from their first session with Hayes & Fisk. We always feel so honored when clients come back to our studio. We know there are a lot of photographers out there, so to be trusted with this huge responsibility really makes us feel special. We understand that these are more that just images for a picture frame. The pictures from these sessions serve as momentums that each family will treasure forever. Whether you put them in a frame or a photo album or have a canvas or oil made for the wall – these images will tell your family’s story for many years to come.

These images are from a previous portrait session with The Grossmans. This particular session was taken inside of our studio at Parham and Patterson. We love to photograph families over the years. It is so much fun watching the kids (and fur babies) grow up.

We Are Excited to Premier our New Portrait Video
with Client Testimonial

We are Excited to Premier our New Portrait Video featuring a client testimonial from Beth Lane. At Hayes & Fisk understand that selecting a professional photographer to take your family portrait is a big decision. We know that this process can be very personal, it takes a lot of time and it there is also an expense to creating this lasting memory. We invite you to watch the video to get a a small glimpse into what it is like to become part of the Hayes & Fisk family.

You will see Jamie delivering a the final product to one of our long term customers, Beth Lane. In addition to personally delivering your portrait (if your choose), we will also help with the actual installation. It is our goal at Hayes & Fisk to give you the ultimate experience from consultation to installation.

We have been photographing the Lane Family for years. We have done their family portraits as well as their son Will’s Wedding and their daughter Maddy’s Wedding. Beth, a local realtor, originally came to us after visiting the home on an interior designer. She noticed the oil painting over the fireplace and she fell in love. She knew right then that she had to hire Hayes & Fisk to do the same for her family.

In her own words: “Anyone can take a picture – but Jamie is the only photographer that truly captures the essence of an individual’s personality and can translate it into a portrait. For example, we were photographing the whole family one time and Jamie told the children to kick off their shoes. They were all wearing jeans and he instructed them to stand like they normally would and photographed from the waist down. It was amazing… you tell the children’s personalities by the way they stood. Everyone was shocked and loved it!  It hangs in my foyer along many others!”

Beth will also tell you that she recommends Hayes & Fisk all of the time :) She says that she sees our work all over town as she shows houses and she says that each one speaks for itself.

Below you can enjoy a few images from their last beach session as well as both weddings. We hope you enjoy!
