Springtime Family Portrait Session
Before you read this post, we ask that you watch this video that Mary did for Professional Photographers of America (PPA) on the Print Movement. Mary was asked to do this video at the same time the Bumgardners about getting an updated family portrait. The portrait installation at the end of this video is at the home of the Bumgardners, whose session is detailed below.
Sometimes it seems impossible to explain to new clients the importance of print. We try to emphasize the importance of having a family portrait sessions done by a professional photographer and having those images printed for all to see.
However, our hearts sing when our long-time clients call us and say, “It is time for a new family portrait.” That is exactly what happened before we photographed this session.
Dutch, the father, called because his anniversary was approaching. The only present that his wife had asked for was an updated portrait of their girls. Dutch explained how much the first portrait of Lizzie and Emma meant to their family. He knew the only gift that would make his wife happy was a new oil portrait. These words truly brought Jamie to his knees. He quickly looked up the Bumgardner family’s first portrait and right away he remembered every detail. We know we are truly blessed to be able to create these amazing memories for our clients. To hear that this was the only gift that Brooke wanted; literally music to our ears.
Dutch, Brooke, Lizzie, and Emma visited our Parham Road location to have their portrait session photographed in our garden. Whether spring or fall, our garden makes for the perfect backdrop. Now that spring has made it to Virginia, we are ready to welcome families for their spring portrait sessions.
Mary had been asked by PPA to make a Print Movement video around the same time we received Dutch’s call. We knew right away that this session would be a great one to highlight in this video. We have always expressed the importance of print to our clients, and it is our pleasure to share it with our colleagues as well.
